What does it mean to depend on God?
I think we all want to depend on God more, right? But let’s be honest … sometimes it can be hard to even know what that means.
When you go to ancient sites in the Holy Land, you often find cisterns dug into the ground for storing water. These cisterns were man-made water storage units for people who went many months—even years—without fresh water in the form of rain. These cisterns sustained life in many ways.
And these cisterns also taught me a lot about what it means to depend on God. You can find out what I learned in this short video I did from one of the largest cisterns found in Israel, at Masada.
So, where will you find your security and meaning today—from God or from man-made things?
As Charles Stanley once put it… I can’t quote him exactly but it went omething like this. In the rocky hills of the desert, there are occasional tufts of grass to feed the wondering sheep. Small pastures that provide just enough to fulfil the need and sustain life until the next tift of grass appears. God may not always provide an abundance of what we need. However, He provides what we need when we meed it.
